WIN A Luxury Tasting Menu and Aperitif at Michelin-Starred Benares Restaurant

I’ve often documented my love for Japanese and Italian food on this blog, but one cuisine that slightly neglected is Indian food. It doesn’t mean that I don’t love the cuisine but I think really good Indian restaurants are few and far between in London. However, I remember the first time I ever tasted truly excellent Indian food at Benares Restaurant in Mayfair and I was soon hooked.

Since that time several incredible and high end Indians have sprung up in London but Atul Kochhar will always be the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin star, with Benares Restaurant gaining it’s own star in 2007 and keeping it ever since. I’m collaborating with BuyaGift to offer my readers the opportunity to win the tasting menu at this temple of Indian food, scroll to the end to enter.

  • Indian food is my favourite! Fingers crossed! x

  • Angie I totally need to share with you London’s hidden indian gems. Gymkhana and Hoppers are popular good ones but must say I haven’t tried Benares!

Remind me to give you some recommendations of ones you may not have been to, when we speak!

    Reena

    • I’ve been wanting to go to Gymkhana for ages!!

      • You absolutely should. They do a chetinad duck dosa and these delicate scallops that are perfectly spiced and sooo moreish!

  • Can you believe that I’ve never dined at Benares, I’ve heard great things about it though!

  • Love this restaurant! We threw my parents a party in their private room last year to celebrate a big anniversary and the service and food were just utterly fabulous!

  • That’s certainly different….I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a passion fruit chutney martini before!! Aside from Benares, I’ve struggled to find a good Indian restaurants in London too. I tend to reserve my Indian food fest until I’m in Manchester as there are some really great Indian restaurants up north

    • Same here! Actually I really loved Trishna and I still need to try Gymkana.

  • This sounds amazing, gutted I can’t enter :'( AP xo

  • What a fab competition!

Hi there! Absolutely love your blog. I wanted to suggest a destination which it seems you’ve not discovered yet. Although I live here in the UK, i’m originally from Greece and despite its current financial state, it is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world. I believe you would enjoy it, especially in the summer! It has a great cuisine of which i’m sure you know of and if I may recommend a specific place, I would say, stay within the islands. The islands are the absolute best. I hope you consider trying it out sometime in the future, you won’t regret it! – Sofia

    • Hi Sofia, thank you so much! Actually I’ve been to Greece many times, Mykonos only a couple of years ago. Sadly it was before I had my blog and I don’t have good enough photos to write about it. I hope to return one day – Santorini is on my wish list.

  • I’m impressed that Mr Silver didn’t insist on winning this competition!

I haven’t been to Benares yet, but I did try Atul’s Lamb Chops at Taste of London. This sounds like an amazing prize and good luck everyone.
