Ole and Steen
Danish bakery Ole and Steen are making this strange old Christmas a touch sweeter! They sent me an amazing hamper from the Christmas selection, the idea is a ‘Hygge Wonderland’ – that is a snuggly cosy Christmas with festive food and drink all around you. The festive menu is basically Christmas in cake form; we had Danish mince pies (topped with almond crumble), honey hearts (Danish Christmas ginger cake), Cinnamon Social sharing bread and apple caramel spandaur. It’s all available for takeaway during Tier 3 too via Deliveroo!
I first found out about Chrissy’s Kitchen during Lockdown 1.0 when they kindly sent me a picnic to enjoy in the park and now Chrissy and company have turned their hand to Christmas Gift boxes. They sent me some brownies and chocolates so that I could check them out!
Once a female-led bespoke catering company founded by Chrissy, Chrissy’s Kitchen is now thriving on a new business by creating hampers to give you a night off cooking. Growing up in a Swedish / Greek family, Chrissy was always passionate about food and after qualifying as a chef at world-renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, she set up her own business catering events large and small.
Cheese and Port
A few weeks ago I was invited to discover Comté cheese through a virtual tasting event along side some Port wines. The versatile flavours of Comté make it ideal pairing for beer, wine and champagne and we enjoyed for different types of maturation alongside three different ports whilst learning the history of the cheese.
Our cheese was delivered from La Fromagerie who are now sold out for Christmas deliveries but it is available from other online outlets.
Premium Scottish Gin brand, Hendricks will have you feeling festive with special infused flavours including Blood Orange, Pink Strawberry and Blackberry.
