Afternoon Tea at Annabel’s

I was invited to Laurent-Perrier launch at Annabel’s and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to attend and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.

There are some hallowed places in London available for members only, they kind of places you’re dying to see inside but may have only caught a glimpse through the door or seen a picture on Instagram. For me, Annabel’s in Mayfair was one such place … sure I’d got pictures of the facade but I’d never actually been in to the exclusive private members club. And when an invitation to celebrate the launch Laurent-Perrier champagne Cuvée Rosé Jeroboam at the very place I was dying to go to popped into my inbox… you bet I was going to be there despite being nearly seven months pregnant and not drinking!
As I walked in, I had that feeling of butterflies… that expectation of I can’t believe I’m actually here! Especially as the event was taking place in famous Flower Room, the rooms I’d particularly wanted to see. Acknowledging the notorious Picasso painting in reception, I handed in my coat and headed upstairs…

The Flower Room was just as I dreamed, the walls are covered with pink Pierre Frey wall silk and stitched with a blooming cherry blossom pattern. On the wall panels there are hand-made ceramic flowers, numbering 13,000 apparently and a glorious glass chandelier to top it off.
Even the napkin rings are glorious!
The brand new Jeroboam stood proudly on display…
As well as the new Laurent-Perrier Rosé NV Champagne Constellation,  beautifully dressed in a limited edition robe that is inspired by the patterns in the stars and reflects the attention to detail that goes into the making of the very special champagne.

Laura and I took our seats next to each other, extremely excited to to be able to share such an exciting event together and listened as David Hesketh, managing director at Laurent-Perrier, told us more about the Jeroboam.
Bubbly was poured for everyone but me (I know the jury is out on drinking in pregnancy but I’d rather avoid it) but as I’ve had the rosé many times, I can safely say I’m in full support of the launch. A jeroboam holds six regular bottles of champagne and Laurent-Perrier were always reticent about producing one for their rosé but the time was finally here and only 500 bottles have been released. The champagne has been aged for over five years and is a light rose colour with notes of strawberry and raspberry… the perfect accompaniment to afternoon tea which fortunately I can have!
Pretty delicacy of the tea was well matched to the beauty of the room for the savoury selection we enjoyed sandwiches including coronation chicken, smoked salmon and cream cheese, cucumber and ricotta, truffle and egg mayo and roasted pepper and hummus. Scones were classic and raisin with jam and clotted cream and sweets were carrot cake, chocolate tart, blueberry macaron and orange and hazelnut puff.
When the gorgeous event was over, Laura and I couldn’t help but pay a visit to the ladies powder room, the most glorious pink confection of a bathroom I’ve seen! I must also thank Laurent-Perrier as though I’m not drinking right now, they gifted me with a Laurent-Perrier champagne Cuvée Rosé Constellation which we will be celebrating with once baby Silver arrives.

Aren’t the walls glorious? It’s not actually wall paper it’s all fine embroidery… I can only imagine what this place costs!
And those sinks… some of the most beautiful I’ve seen!

I honestly can’t thank the team at Laurent-Perrier enough for having me for such a pink sparkly afternoon and for finally giving me access to such a dream venue!
