As a travel lover I really look forward to going to the airport. I know it sounds strange but it’s that sense of anticipation that you’re going on a new adventure – handing over your passport, going through security – it’s all just the beginning of what’s to come. I was even more excited about going to Heathrow this time, as we were off on Mr S’s surprise birthday holiday! We had the final reveal in the car on the way – though he’d already guessed where we were going!
To add even more excitement to the start of the trip, I was booked in for a luxurious experience with the Heathrow Personal Shopping to pick up something new to take with me. It’s really simple to book and an appointment can be requested using the online booking form with only 48 hours notice and best of all, the service is entirely complimentary.
In advance of the big day, I was contacted by my personal shopper, Anjana, who asked me my favourite brands, my clothing and my shoe size. I also suggested she have a look at my Instagram to have more of an idea of my personal style. On the day that we were flying to Athens, we turned up at Heathrow Terminal 5 around an hour earlier than we normally would, and met Anjana in front of Harrods before she led us down to the Personal Shopping Lounge. The Personal Shopping service is available in all Heathrow terminals so it’s accessible to anyone travelling out of the airport.
The lounge itself is an absolute dream! There’s pink sofas with rose gold accents and row on row of beautiful clothing selected from the brands available at Heathrow. Not only that but Anjana had pulled out stylish handbags, beautiful shoes and jewellery to complete the overall looks.
I was seriously in heaven surrounded by so many gorgeous items and it was so easy as everything had been pre-selected for me in the right size where possible.
With the Personal Shopping Lounge totally to ourselves we could relax away from the busy hum of the airport and Anjana gave us champagne, coffee and chocolates to enjoy as she talked through the pieces that she’d found. Anjana and her fellow personal shoppers are accredited stylists with extensive fashion backgrounds and between them speak 20 languages, so I knew I was very much in safe hands!
As a few of the clothes were a bit too autumnal in tone for me, Anjana suggested I take a quick look in the shops myself to find a few other items. We popped up to Harrods to pick up a few more dresses, a jacket and skirt but not too much more as we were still limited in time. As well as Harrods and the designer brands, the Personal Shopper can also gather items from the premium high street retailers available at the airport such as Reiss and Ted Baker but there’s no need to feel pressure as there’s no obligation to buy.
Of course I couldn’t wait to get started with trying on all the beautiful clothes and Anjana made some suggestions regarding which shoes and bags to pair with each outfit. I absolutely loved this light blue dress but it was a teeny bit too big for me and I was keen to find something that I could wear on holiday. I will be buying these gorgeous shoe boots from Reiss at some point though!
I also absolutely loved this look and the three-way mirror which allowed me to see the outfit from different angles. How cute is the bag from Kate Spade? I definitely think that will be going on my birthday wish list.
As soon as I saw these Valentino Metallic Rock Stud shoes, I was in love. I have the pink version already and I wear them all the time and though they may not quite look it, they are the most comfortable pair of high heels that I own. Once I had them on, I didn’t want to take them off…
I absolutely loved the shoes with the delicate fabric of this dress and I think this would be a great look for Christmas parties.
I also thought that they paired beautifully with this little black dress, they’re the kind of thing that pretty much goes with everything! With time being of the essence, I slipped back into my own dress to take a closer look at the accessories…
I loved this gorgeous girlie dressing table with lit up mirror, which was the ideal place to check out the jewellery, gloves and other accessories that had been picked for me.
Rather conveniently there’s a flight board in the Personal Shopping Lounge and our flight started flashing with ‘Go to Gate’, so it was decision time… I really wanted something to wear while on holiday so as much as I loved the jacket and the long-sleeved dresses, they weren’t right for the Greek sunshine… can you guess what I bought?
I seriously think these shoes are a great investment as they go with everything and can be worn on holiday and at home all year round.
The Personal Shopper service is such a treat and the perfect way to add a more luxury to your trip. I can’t believe such a fabulous luxury service is complimentary and I will most definitely be making use of it in upcoming trips.
This blog post is part of a paid partnership with Heathrow Airport. I was also given spending money towards the shoes.
