A Spa Day at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire

Looking for the perfect luxury spa getaway just outside of London? I’ve got the place for you! Despite my unwavering loyalty to the Four Seasons brand, I’d never actually been to their UK country retreat, Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire.

That being said, I hadn’t realised how easy the hotel was to get to and how perfect it was to visit on a day trip from London. With only a forty minute train journey from London Waterloo, I was soon nestled back in the English country and ready for a relaxing day!

There are currently renovations going on in the hotel and with the library complete, the focus is currently on the restaurants and bars. However, the renovations don’t effect the spa and a temporary check in desk mean the whole experience is still perfectly seamless in true Four Seasons style.
As an alternative to the main restaurant, the hotel are currently offering pop up dining experiences or you can head to the spa cafe, Café Santé.
The beautiful glass house surroundings are the perfect setting for a glass of champagne and a bit of me time before the spa. You can be super casual too, and some of the other guests were enjoying lunch whilst still in their spa robes.

The menu is fresh and healthy using seasonal produce and there’s an Asian twist to the dishes which I love.
Keeping it light, I opted for Vietnamese rice paper rolls stuffed with prawns, mixed peppers, mango with a side salad of slaw and a peanut dressing.
Main course was miso marinated salmon with bok choi, stir fried vegetables and teriyaki dressing. Both healthy and light and perfect to put me in a balanced frame of mind for my spa treatment. Good mood food at its best! There’s no deprivation and there are some tasty dessert options and a full wine list too!
After lunch, I headed to the spa which is actually located in the hotel’s converted stable block with fantastic sweeping countryside views.
As you enter there’s a gorgeous spa shop and I took a look to admire the products on sale that are also used in the treatments on offer at the spa. Gorgeous luxury brands such as Espa, Sodashi and Swiss Perfection are all available.

As well as Beeutiful candles that would be used in my upcoming treatment.
I headed into the ladies changing room and swapped my clothes for a snuggly robe. Before putting on the slippers I took a moment to enjoy the sensation of the heated floor which was a lovely extra detail. There’s a full gym at the spa or you can take it easy in the clear quartz crystal sauna or the amythst steam room.

But with a little time before my treatment, I took the opportunity to have a look at the pool (record some video) and enjoy the calm of the beautiful gardens of Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire.
There’s a relaxing indoor pool flanked with sun loungers.

And when the weather is good, you can swim right out to the heated vitality pool and enjoy the outdoor terrace.

My therapist soon found me and called me in for my treatment in one of the fifteen private treatment rooms. There’s a VIP couples suite too which I’ll bear in mind if I return with Mr S!
The treatment room is totally zen and the spa therapist showed me that you could change the colour of the lighting depending on your mood. I chose blue (obvs) and she left the room leaving me to get ready for the treatment. Many of the treatments offered here are actually inspired by the Hampshire countryside and ingredients picked from the hotel’s estate. There’s also a Jane Austen inspired herbal massage and a lavender, rosemary and mint back treatment.

For the Beeutiful Rose Spice Candle massage that I would be trying, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire have joined forces with a local beekeeper to offer this unique treatment. Beeutiful make 100% natural skincare products using beeswax and honey from their own bees. There are absolutely no chemicals are all the products are healing and therapeutic.
The treatment I was trying uses the melted beewax from the Rose Spice body candle as massage oil combined with soy, coconut oil and a blend of rose and frankincense essential oils. Of course it’s not straight from the candle but it’s warm and and soothing for tired and tense muscles. The therapists uses medium pressure and long strokes all over the body to aid relaxation and add moisture to the skin.

Not only does the beeswax sooth the skin but it also smells gorgeous which provides another element of relaxation to the treatment. Of course the hour long treatment just flew by and all to soon my treatment was at an end.

And that’s the only problem with heading to the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire just for the day. It was all over far too quickly and once again I was on the train bound for London but with plans to return once all the refurbishments are finished!
