I thought January would be a quiet month but an exciting invitation to Mexico meant that it was suddenly filled with excitement and opportunities! But let’s start from the beginning…
The year kicked off with a bang as Mr S and I popped to Hakkasan for dinner before meeting some of our friends for drinks and raising a glass to 2017. I don’t do dry January as I think you’re just setting yourself up for failure but I did a ‘dryish’ couple of weeks.
Ok, so it was a rather dreary day and omg it did actually snow…but I got to go to the top of The Gherkin for the first time! Here I had the experience of trying the new @perrierjouet Belle Époque Vintage 2008. With one of the most beautiful bottle designs I’ve seen, the elegant wine tasted so fresh and had the fragrance of flowers!
Despite my sober intentions I couldn’t resist a trip to the Gherkin to try the new Champagne Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008. I love the champagne, especially having visited their cellars last year and I’d never actually been in the Gherkin. I had the pleasure of meeting cellar master, Herve Deschamps again and trying a glass of the crisp and fresh vintage champagne.
I also had a fantastic meet up with some of my favourite travel bloggers at The Ivy Kensington Brasserie.
Any good January intentions when out the window with my visit to Vienna. We had the most incredible stay at Hotel Imperial Vienna, an beautiful former palace fit for a princess.
And then basically ate cake….
And more cake…
We also discovered a fair amount of history and culture too! But do read my top 14 recommendations for a luxurious foodie trip to Vienna.
It was a very swift turn around as only a few days after I got back I was on a plane again bound for the sunny climes of Mayakoba in Mexico!
I stayed at the beautiful Rosewood Mayakoba, one of four hotels that make up the incredible Mayakoba resort on the Riviera Maya in Cancun.
I absolutely loved this hotel and resort and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
Finally Mr S and I are all booked for Dubai and the Maldives in early March. I’m nearly finished with planning but I’d love any restaurant recommendations for Dubai.
How was your January? What’s your news?
