I’ve got a very exciting summer ahead, I’m leaving for Cannes tomorrow and then I’m off to Singapore and Bali a week after I get back. Despite my type-A characteristics and inability to relax, I definitely wanted to get my skin ready for summer so I look my best for drinking wine in chic French bars and exploring monkey forests in Bali 🙂
Fortunately for the monkeys who will looking at me, one of my favourite London hotels, One Aldwych has partnered with British skincare brand, OSKIA to offer a selection of bespoke facial treatments.
Instead of heading straight to the Lobby Bar for a cocktail, like I usually do when I come to One Aldwych, I headed down to the spa to be greeted by the Health Club therapists.
I’ve been to the spa before and enjoyed an excellent massage here while Mr S and I were on our Christmas staycation so I knew I was in for a treat with my OSKIA facial.
The waiting area is the picture of calm with fresh flowers, fashion magazines and the choice of orange or cucumber water for your refreshment. I headed to the changing room to get into my robe (and make myself feel spa-like) and slippers.
Suitably enrobed I was taken to one of the treatment rooms, which was decorated in calming, neutral greys with more fresh flowers, flickering candles and the heavenly scent of lavender…
With my blogger duties done and photos taken, I relaxed on the warm spa bed and my lovely therapist placed soothing warm towels on my face. The therapist explained that the OSKIA facial would be completely unique for me and adapted to my needs. We talked through any problems that I have with my skin, for me it’s always dryness and dehydration, so that she could select the appropriate products for me.
After cleansing my skin, the therapist applied steam to face before performing the extractions. Next she exfoliated my skin, including my neck and arms before applying a final layer of OSKIA moisturiser. Throughout the treatment she performed gentle massage techniques on my face, neck, arms and chest that were intended to stimulate the skin but gave a very overall relaxing effect. The facial itself was very gentle and I didn’t feel like anything harsh was going on my skin and I enjoyed the pleasant scent of rose that filled the room.
After such a relaxing treatment I was already to ‘glow’ for my trip to Cannes and to meet the monkeys in Bali. After the treatment there a choice between a cocktail inspired by OSKIA’s nutritional ingredients or a delicious take-away dish.
Though I know the barman at One Aldwych make amazing cocktails, I still decided to stick with the detox option of quinoa with peas, broad beans and smoked almonds made by the hotel’s executive chef Dominic Teague. Now that’s willpower choosing quinoa over cocktails!
The next day my skin felt perfectly soft and hydrated – completely holiday ready!
