The Grill at The Dorchester has been a family favourite for years, back in the heady days of the infamous bread trolley, Yorkshire puddings the size of your head and retro desserts such as sherry trifle and black forest gateau…But the iconic grand dame has had a luxe face lift and there is a brand new menu of traditional classics reimagined with a modern twist.
Regular readers of my blog will know that The Dorchester Hotel is very close to my heart as Mr Silver and I had our wedding reception there. So when the lovely Liz, PR for the Dorchester Collection in the UK, invited me for breakfast to check out The Grill’s sparkly new refurb, I was excited to relive the memories of the day!
I loved the new look Grill Room and my eyes were immediately drawn to the gorgeous chandelier made from hand-blown Murano glass which was the focal point of the room.
And it looked gorgeous set against the restaurant’s original and beautifully theatrical ceiling.
Beautiful bakery baskets were lined up at the pass at the back of the room waiting to be delivered and gobbled up with creamy butter or the array of jams and preserves on the table.
Which, to be fair is made rather more exciting when served in a bowl trimmed with gold and imprinted with the The Dorchester.
And a beautifully presented fruit platter. Can I please have breakfast at The Dorchester everyday?
I really enjoyed my breakfast in the luxe environs of the The Dorch and I’m looking forward to returning for dinner to try the new menu created by Alain Ducasse’s protege, Christophe Marleix. I have my eye on Blue lobster chowder to start and Dover Sole for main course, plus they have the very first souffle menu in London!
