About a month ago Mr Silver and I had a fabulous date night at Chotto Matte in Soho. We loved everything about the place: the fantastic food, the funky decor and the electric buzzing atmosphere. In fact, Mr Silver promptly announced it as his new favourite place!
We also had the amazing opportunity of meeting the talented chef Jordan Sclare who showed us around the busy kitchen. Jordan and I stayed in touch and I was delighted when he invited me and my blogging buddies to an exclusive tasting of his brand new tostaditas menu.
Chotto Matte serves Nikkei cuisine (a fantastic hybrid of Japanese and Peruvian food) and the new tostaditas menu adds a another element to the already brilliant selection available.
And here’s our quintet of beautiful bloggers! From left to right:
My ex-pat friend, Melanie from Sunny in London
Social media guru Catherine Lux from Lux Life
Cake baker extraordinaire, Caroline from Cocktails and Caroline
And for first time, I met ravishing red-head, Laura from Heroine in Heels
And here’s our host for the night, restaurant owner, Kurt Zdesar.
A glass of sparkling sake was our first drink of the night. The drink had a gorgeous honey-sweet flavour and was a fantastic alternative to champagne.
Our starting snacks were slightly sweet and deliciously spicy padron pepper in miso.
And the uber addictive cancha corn
Our first cocktail was a refreshing mango-based concoction
Cameras at the ready….
Chotto Matte have installed a brand new bar dedicated to serving the tostaditas and Jordan kindly gave us a tour of the new bar area and open kitchen.
Here’s me and the girls with chef and his team.
Hard at work preparing our feast for the night…
First up was salmon guacamole with jalapeno and citrus soy salsa. If you don’t know (and I didn’t!) a tostaditas is a tortilla chip with a topping, kind of like the Mexican version of a pizza. It is totally delicious and makes the perfect bar snack or light meal.
And the ladies were certainly happy…
Especially when the next cocktail came!
The next dish was seabass hucatay (a Peruvian black mint) which was light, fresh and tasted deliciously healthy.
And the beautiful Casey Batchelor agreed.
Next was shrimp and lobster with yuzu creme fraiche. Delightfully decadent! I love that Nikkei cuisine incorporates so much seafood.
A heritage tomato tostaditas was the perfect choice for a vegetarian.
As was the green bean, corn and avocado tartar which was accompanied by a delicious salsa.
Here’s some more of the lovely ladies who I met on the night, including Danielle Armstrong from The Only Way is Essex and Sophie Zemenides, fabulous fashion stylist and owner the clothing boutique, Lady Snob.
And things got a little blurry as I got on the ‘decks’ with house music DJs, the Dixon brothers.
Then Jordan fired things up with a beef tataki tostadita with a zesty yuzu dressing.
And finally we ended on a sweet note.
The girls and I had an absolutely marvellous time and Jordan and Kurt treated us like princesses. Chotto Matte is a fantastic venue that will never disappoint. Trust me you are guaranteed a totally fabulous experience here.
The brand new tostaditas menu makes a very welcome addition to the chef’s repertoire and the cocktails definitely went down a treat!!
A big thank you to team, Mr Silver and I will see you soon!
