Soho is one of my favourite areas of London; new quirky restaurants, cafes and boutiques are constantly opening or popping up and you can always rely on them having a buzzy atmosphere! Soho Kitchen and Bar (previously Soho Diner) was the place of choice for a ladies lunch with my two former work buddies, Alisha and Amelia.
The restaurant / diner was opened by Soho House Group following the success of the Notting Hill outpost, Electric Diner. The interior is less American diner and more English cosy pub following the shabby chic style featured in the other Soho House establishments. The space is an eclectic mix of comfy sofas, leather booths, wooden panelling and distressed-chic floor. The overall effect is very cool and inviting.
And here are the lovely girls! Together we form a tripartite of ‘A’ names!
As Amelia is also a bride-to-be, we discussed our weddings as we looked over the menu of French-American cuisine. My nuptials are three and half months away and Amelia’s are two weeks after that, eek!
Soho Kitchen and Diner offers a broad range of food including light options such a salads and grilled chicken and fish, for us brides-to-be; and more hearty offerings, such as hot dogs and burgers, if you’re feeling hungry. Rather fabulously, Soho Kitchen and Bar is the only place in Soho where you can drink fresh cocktails on tap and the bar menu includes classics such as mojitos, cosmos and ginger collins! Unfortunately, it was a working lunch so we were sticking to soft drinks.
Amelia and I both chose sea bass, green beans and capers.
The fish was perfectly flaky with a lovely crisp skin.
Alisha chose a chicken BLT, minus the bun
True American-diner fare
We shared raw vegetables with dip as a tasty and healthy side dish
And roasted broccoli
It was a perfect choice for lunch and would please all appetites. Soho Kitchen and Bar serves an all-day menu and is open until 1am Monday – Wednesday and 3am Thursday to Saturday. It the perfect place to start and finish your Soho night out and to return in the morning for a hangover brunch and bloody mary!
