Life Lately: Little Jackson is nearly two months old and he’s bringing so much joy to our whole family. With my sister living just down the road from me I get to see him at least once a week and see the progress he’s making.
Are you ever effect by the changing seasons? Funnily enough I’m not usually but this year being once again plummeted in misty mornings and early dark evening has had an effect on my mindset. I’ve invested in a Lumie lamp (#notSpon) so that my body feels like I’m getting up with the sunrise – I highly recommend it to any suffering from SAD this year.
Restaurants: This month Lauren and I ticked a few restaurants off our bucket list including The Dairy in Clapham and an excellent value set menu at Sake No Hana.
I also finally tried hidden gem, Launceston Place after years of having it on my list – and it was worth the wait.
This month I attended an event with London’s most famous Master Pâtissier to learn how to make the iconic eclairs from Maître Choux. It was so fun to watch chef Joakim Prat make the pastries and then try our hand at decorating whilst sipping on Champagne Laurent-Perrier! The new Maître Choux store opens this week in Soho, so keep you eyes peeled for these brightly coloured chouxs.
Travel: Travel posts on this blog have mostly focussed around one city this month: Barcelona. Having never visited before I was lucky enough to visit twice within the space of about four weeks. The first time was a personal trip to celebrate Mr S’s birthday and we stayed at the beautiful Hotel Arts right on the beach! A big highlight of the trip was a visit to world-renowned restaurant, Tickets where we had an utterly epic meal finishing with a stint in the famous Dessert room.
It wasn’t long before I was back in the city minus Mr S and on a press trip with The Macallan. The whistle stop trip last less than 24 hours and we arrived in the city with enough time to drop our bags off at Hotel Omm and to get ready before taking to the road! An hour and a half away in Girona is El Celler de Can Roca, one of the world’s best restaurants and in possession of three Michelin stars. A twelve course menu with wine and whisky pairing was an utterly sensational experience and even now, a couple of weeks later, I’m pinching myself that it actually happened.
I also had a family holiday to Soho Farmhouse – my absolute favourite hotel in the UK! Mr S and I were leant a Rolls-Royce so that we arrived in style for a super relaxing weekend in the Cotswolds.
And what does November hold? Well November is my favourite month and conjures up visions of cosy bonfires, hot bowls of soup and crunchy leaves on the ground. It’s also my birthday month so I have lots of plans coming up with friends. There’s no international travel this month (as yet) but Mr S and I are actually returning to Soho Farmhouse, I honestly couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate my birthday so we ended up booking another weekend there. There’s something about that place that makes me feel like I’m in a little bubble of happiness.
I’ll also be heading to Bristol for one of my best friend’s birthday – it’s a fabulous city in the UK and great for foodies but somewhere I haven’t covered yet. I’m hoping to gather some great recommendations for you too!
