Boxing Day at The Corinthia

Boxing Day is really just Christmas Round II isn’t it? Another chance to eat some tasty food, get tipsy and just enjoy being with your family. This time my sister and her family were joining us and having spent Christmas Day at The Four Seasons London at Park Lane, there was no left over turkey sandwiches, cheese boards and chocolate for Boxing Day.
Instead we headed to another of my favourite hotels, Corinthia Hotel London for a very special Boxing Day brunch.
I loved the White Swan theme decorating the foyer but my nephew, five-year-old Charlie was more interested in the presents under the tree.
All dressed up for the day, Charlie had chosen the occasion to wear a bow tie for the first time! Doesn’t he look smart? Last time I visited the Corinthia it was for the mozzarella masterclass in the private dining room of their Italian restaurant, Massimo. This time we would be heading to The Northall, a restaurant serving the very best of British cuisine.
The Swan theme carried on through to the dining room with it’s comfortable orange seating and mirrored panels, and a singer serenaded us from the gallery above with relaxing jazzy tunes.

Bread served with the choice of salted or unsalted butter was excellent, the kind that you just couldn’t stop yourself from eat. What I really like about the Boxing Day Brunch menu here was that a really good choice of options for your three course meal rather than being stuck with a set menu.
It also came with a spicy Bloody Mary for those requiring a bit of hair of the dog AND unlimited Champagne Laurent-Perrier. I mean what’s not to like about that!!
There was also colouring in, a children’s menu and unlimited juice for Charlie. It really was perfect.
There were a few different starter choices around the table; hand cut Cumbrian beef tartare with confit egg yolk and toasted sour dough for a few of us.
A rather perfect eggs benedict with truffle hollandaise for my dad.
Maldon Rock oysters with shallot vinegar for my sister.
And cauliflower soup with Indian spiced fritters for my mum.
All complimented with free-flowing Laurent-Perrier champagne.
My mum and I chose a very beautifully cooked seared Loch Var salmon with crushed new potatoes, poached egg and Bois Boudran sauce for main course.
Though the majority of the table went whole hog with a roasted fore rib of Cumbrian beef and all the usual trimmings.
Ben went for Severn and Wye smoked salmon with scrambled egg and toasted brioche. I actually learnt all about how this beautifully presented plate of salmon is put together last Christmas in a private masterclass with culinary directer Garry Hollihead if you’re interested in reading more.
There were several different dessert choices around the table.
My lighter and super delicious raspberry lychee cream with rose water jelly and lemon confit.
Jen’s selection of artisan British cheeses.
`
Mr Silver’s plum and almond tart with Amaretto ice cream.
And Charlie, a child after my own heart, made a unicorn out of his ice cream…
We were incredibly impressed by the value for money, with three courses, mince pies, a Bloody Mary AND unlimited champagne for £110 each. But you’ll be pleased to know that unlimited champagne brunches aren’t just for Christmas…The Northall offers a weekly Sunday Brunch with three courses and free-flowing Champagne Laurent-Perrier for £90!! Which is incredible value considering one bottle of LP is £80.

I seriously couldn’t recommend Sunday Brunch at The Corinthia enough, whether for Boxing Day or a Sunday treat. And Charlie loved it too.
